Our Love Songs are the Perfect Fit with Island Weddings
There are several cherished traditions that define Martha’s Vineyard summers: great live music, wonderful food, and weddings. (There are, of course, numerous outdoor fairs and festivals as well).
Let’s focus on the weddings, which are among our all-time favorite events, because they combine everything we hold dear – live music by local bands, and, of course, LOVE!
Martha’s Vineyard weddings are made even more special by the island’s romantic surroundings: beautiful sandy beaches, spectacular sunsets, quaint churches and inns, and friendly people.
What about the music? Of course, there are all the traditional love songs – tunes that have been “regular” features of many a wedding, and will no doubt continue to be favorites for a long time to come.
But if you are getting married on Martha’s Vineyard (or know someone who is), you might want to consider “throwing” in a different kind of music into the mix. There is no rule (and certainly no law) that says all the songs must be the same old standards.
You didn’t know you could spice up your wedding with the “non-traditional” songs? Well, then, we are happy to share some suggestions with you.
Different strokes…
Every year, a nationwide survey of wedding disc jockeys publishes the most requested songs to be played during wedding receptions. Here are the top five of the most popular tunes of 2014 (you might be surprised!):

Okay, we admit that these songs are not exactly what you’d expect to hear (or dance to) at a wedding, but there is no reason why today’s newlyweds shouldn’t shake up the tradition a bit!
