Before you go…

…don’t forget that music plays (no pun intended) a huge part on Martha’s Vineyard. Whatever genre it is — jazz, blues, rock, pop, classical, and anything in between — summer concerts and performances abound on the Island.

We know because Martha’s Vineyard Live Music consists of a group of musicians who perform at a variety of events here throughout the summer months. If you’d like to know what goes on where and when just contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

For now, we wish you a great and enjoyable summer on Martha’s Vineyard!

MARTHA’S VINEYARD SUMMER — ARTS, FOOD, AND ALL THAT JAZZ!

What is your ideal summer vacation? Is it quiet and laid back, or busy and active? Or perhaps it is both?

When you are vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard, you don’t have to choose — you can relax on one of our fine-sand beaches AND you can participate in all the activities our island has to offer.

We at Martha’s Vineyard Live Music are a group of musicians who perform at a variety of events on the island throughout the summer months, so we are familiar with the lay of the land, so to speak. We know what goes on where and when, and are happy to highlight some of the events for you here.

The first thing to know is that even though Martha’s Vineyard is a beautiful and fun place in all seasons (just ask the 15,000 residents who live here all year round), it is most lively in the months between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

Fun and Games at the Fair with Martha’s Vineyard Live Music

Martha’s Vineyard Live Music is right at home at the island’s largest Fair

“This time each year in our hometown

The county fair comes our way

Where the folks gather round
to be happy and spend their day.”
~ The Beach Boys

Summers on Martha’s Vineyard are a chock-full of fun activities, music and entertainment.

But no MV summer would be complete without an event that has taken place here – rain or shine – for a century and a half. We are talking, of course, about the Agricultural Fair, which this year will be held from August 15 to 18 in its usual location, the fairgrounds in West Tisbury.

As any Fair worthy of its name, this one has plenty of activities for kids and adults alike:  rides, games, live music, craft demonstrations, food, shopping, and art show, among other amusements. But since this is, as its name suggests, an agricultural event, there will also be livestock competitions, a dog show, and lots of homegrown produce, flowers, and other goodies.

Let the fun begin!

Let’s talk food. Why? Because no summertime on Martha’s Vineyard (or anywhere else, for that matter) would be quite as enjoyable without all the delicious food the island has to offer.

Whether you prefer casual food and ambience (think Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day picnics and cookouts), or a more elegant dining experience; whether it’s alfresco on a shady patio, under the starry sky, or indoors, Martha’s Vineyard won’t disappoint. You can have one of the best culinary experiences in New England right here on the island.
